About: Faith & Grace Homes

Journey with Faith and Grace Homes

– Uganda, Africa In June 2024,  we took a step that would forever change our  hearts — a 10-day mission trip to Uganda. We had no idea that what began as a short journey would ignite a deep, lifelong commitment to some of the bravest young girls I’ve ever met.

One of the organizations we visited was Shiloh  , a small, underfunded yet incredibly resilient haven for girls ages 11–16 who had been victims of sexual violence. Many of these girls were not only traumatized, but also pregnant, abandoned by their families, and left to survive on the streets.

I’ll never forget visiting their makeshift shelter — a single shack in the slums where 5 to 10 girls found temporary safety. The organization was doing all it could with very little. Sometimes, they couldn’t afford the emergency C-sections these young girls desperately needed.

The director shared the heartbreaking story of an 11-year-old girl she had to turn away due to lack of funds. That child, and her baby, tragically died on the roadside.

That moment lit a fire in me. I knew I couldn’t walk away and do nothing.

Shiloh had just enough funds to buy a 3-acre plot of land outside the city — a dream space to build a permanent home where these girls could safely deliver their babies and begin to heal.

The moment I stepped on that land, I knew… this was it. This was where I was meant to serve. The day  I walked on the land it was just a dream for the director, but it was a dream that I knew that I had been given the resources to make a reality.

Since then, we have  started a Non-Profit Faith & Grace Homes to partner in the funding of this mission:

Phase One:

• Fence the property for safety and begin vegetable farming- We  have completed the funding of this Phase

Phase Two:

 • Drill a clean water well and install solar power - We have completed the funding of this Phase

Phase Three

• Begin construction on latrines for sanitation - We have just started this Phase

Phase Four

• Building the Kitchen

Phase Five

• Building the actual facility and living quarters. Not started or funded.

Phase Six

Ongoing support and partnerships to support the mission moving forward.

This future home will offer each girl:

• A safe space to carry and deliver her child

• Medical support, including life-saving C-sections

 • One full year of care, shelter, and trade skills training — so she can leave not as a victim, but as a self-sufficient young woman.

This past year has been filled with tears, hope, and purpose. As with most  surprise directions in life, purpose finds us and ignites a light within us  and we get to be so  honored with being able to be a candle who lights the way for others. Heather Foster- Director & Founder
